The main image in the poster for the film 300 is also the background for the poster. It is of the main soldiers in the film defeating another army and you can see this as they are pushing many other soldiers in a different uniform off of a cliff. It is clear to see that there is death involved in the main image as they are falling from a great distance and there is blood splatters around the image. Also, the image is very dark and the main colours that are used are black and red connoting danger. The image is clearly a long shot however edited heavily as they would not be able to take this image in real life.

The title of the film is to the right but nearer the middle of the poster. The font is red which also symbolises blood and font looks like a blood splatter. Above the title of the film, there is a quote saying “Prepare For Glory” and this tells us that there will be competition in the movie, further emphasising that the main characters we are looking for are the ones that are winning in the main image.

It is clear to see that this is a film poster as it only contains the name of the film, a quote about the film, and a main image. However, on this poster there is no release date for the film and there is no more information on the film. It also doesn’t show you who the main characters are in the film and it has no mention of the actors. Therefore you can see that this is clearly a teaser poster.

I,Robot

In this poster, it is clear to see who the main character in the film is going to be and who has been cast as the actor for them. The main image in the poster is of Will Smith and in the image he is wearing very dark clothing and has a facial expression of which he is concentrating. This shows that there is clearly going to be action in the film.

The background image is of many robots lined up. There is a large amount of them making them look like an army. This gives the impression that these are going to be Will Smiths enemies in the film. The colours of the background and the main image are very dark and they are mostly grey, black and blue. This creates a sense of mystery.

The title of the film is nearer the bottom of the screen in the middle and is in white and this makes it look more high tech. The font gives the impression that the movie is set in the future and the props used in the film are going to be a lot more advanced technology than what we are used to seeing.

It is clear to see that this is also a teaser poster as this also does not have a release date for the film, however does have a little bit more information that the other posters. The poster contains a main image, background image, actors, a title and a quote describing the film. Also at the bottom of the poster there is text telling you who made the film and which companies were used.

For us:

Iron Man

The main image for the iron man poster is the main character in the film. However the character is in his iron suit and you can clearly see this. The colour of the suit is red and gold which connotes wealth and danger, power and authority. The main image is clearly edited / manipulated in a package and there are parts of the suit which are glowing. This shows that the suit is alive and powerful which indicates a further weapon.

The background image is of a city, however it is very dark and there is fire in the background. This tells the audience that in the movie there will be action and fighting in the city. The second part of the background image overlays the first and looks like a blue print or a plan and this also tells the audience that there will be a lot of different technology used in the film. There is also a connotation of needing to look for something hidden and secret. The hint at surveillance style technology has a military feel.

The title of the film is at the bottom of the poster in the centre. The title is in all capitals and in red and gold, matching the suit, which emphasises that the main character in the film is the person in the suit.

It is clear to see that this poster is also a teaser poster. This is because the poster only contains a main image, a background image and the title of the film. Again, it does not show any release dates for the film or any actors that will be in the film.
